Experiences and Recognitions of the Workplace Managers on the Life at Work of Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was executed to find out any support needs or points to be improved by reviewing the lives at work in detail of individuals with autism spectrum disorders(ASD) through experiences and recognitions. 5 workplace managers were interviewed, who have experiences to work with individuals with ASD, and the interviewed contents are analysed by the qualitative analysis method. From the qualitative analysis, five themes emerged as follows: (1) the experiences and recognitions of workplace managers during the recruiting procedure of individuals with ASD, (2) the experiences and recognitions of workplace managers on the life at work of individuals with ASD, (3) the strength and difficulty regarding on the life at work of individuals with ASD, (4) the support needs of workplace managers, (5) the support needs for professional life of individuals with ASD, and also fourteen themes were emerged according to each theme. The argument for the life at work of individuals with ASD is presented based on the result of this study. The result of this study is expected to utilized as basic data for the successful life at work of individuals with ASD.
